Here are some summer reading suggestions to start our Collegial Circle over the summer. You may record hours spent reading and commenting on the books over the summer for those interested.
The suggestions:
Drood by Dan Simmons "creepy suspense page turner about Victorian author Wilkie Collins and his friendship with Charles Dickens."
The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters "classic gothic page turner"
Nobody Move by Denis Johnson "hard-boiled modern shoot-'me-up in which nobody's hands are clean but everyone gets great lines" (196 pages)
Vanessa & Virginia by Susan Sellers (213 pages) reimagining of the "intertwined relationship of the great English writer and her sister, painter Vanessa Bell. " a tasty sliver of Bloomsbury"
The Guernsey Literary and Polato Peel Society Post-World War II epitolatory novel
Lock and Keys (young adult) by Sarah Dessen
Diary of a Whimpy Kid: the Last Straw (YA)by Jeff Kinney
The House with a Clock in the Walls by John Bellairs (YA)
Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow (a epic poem about werewolves...enough said.)

I would also like to add: The Center of the Universe, by Nancy Bachrach.
Mary Reilley
Just finished Diary of a Whimpy Kid. I think it will be good for our middle school kids to promote journaling.
I am really excited to read Sharp Teeth!
