Fiction Workshop

Make a short list of stories or books that you love.

In your opinion, what makes a good story good to read?

All stories need...



  • Characters (protagonist (main character), antagonist or conflict, supporting characters, etc.)
  • Plot (inciting incident, rising action, turning point/crisis, enlightenment, climax, resolution)
  • Setting (description of place, time, season, weather, location)
  • Theme (4 themes in literature: life, death, love, nature)
  • POV (1st person, 2nd person, 3rd person)

  • 500 Word Short Story
  • Green Light/Red Light

PD Hours & Dates

Please complete and submit your PD hours for our Collegial Circle (Contemporary Literature Reading Group) or SOTA Book Club.

You may take up to 24 hours. Please adjust based on how often you attended meetings (or commented on the blog), but remember that reading a book takes several hours per book. We trust you to give yourself the # you deserve.
