New Book Picks for December

I would like to propose the following non fiction book, which has been in the cue: The Elephant and the Dragon by Robyn Meredith.

Additionally, for a change of pace (and to encourage democracy), I would like to propose that each of us select a second book we would like to devour during the winter break. We can pick any single book of our own choosing that we would like to read during the holidays. And yes, it can be one we suggested the group read.

When next we meet (in January), we will have a "book talk" about the book we chose. Please prepare to speak about your book, give it a good analytic review and either suggest it for our school reading list, or encourage us to steer clear of it. I would also encourage small groups of people who need the encouragement to select a book with a friend. You both or the small group of you can agree to read a single book of the group's choosing.

And yes, those of you who wish to, may choose a book of your choosing and also join a small group. The number of books you read is what we're interested in for PD. In January we will continue the group choice.

If people are unhappy with this choice, let me know. Otherwise, happy reading!

For my optional book, I read The Kite Runner by Kahled Housseini! Excellent read - one of the best that I've read thus far. I enjoyed the love/hate relationship within Amir. This book could be used in health to teach about self-esteem, values, rape, prejudice and much more!
